Steven currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of RigNet. Before joining RigNet, Steven was the Chief Executive Officer and President of 21st Century Towers, a new entrant in the wireless infrastructure market. Steven also served as Chief Executive Officer of North America's second largest tower construction and maintenance company, WesTower Communications which was acquired by MasTec (NYSE). Prior to WesTower, Steven was the Chief Executive Officer and President of Telmar Network Technology, until its sale to Jabil Circuits (NYSE). Steven's other roles included Senior Vice President/General Manager of Alcatel-Lucent's Optical Network Division and Vice President of Sales at Alcatel.
During his time at Telmar and Westower, Steven served at QuEST Forum, an industry non-profit, as a Board Member, chairman and then chair emeritus. He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Business Administration degree from The Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Mr. Ahlstrom manages all financial aspects of the company, including financial planning and analysis, accounting and financial reporting, as well as managing the tax, internal audit, treasury and investor relations functions. Mr. Ahlstrom brings more than 20 years of finance and capital markets experience. Most recently, Ahlstrom served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Paragon Offshore Ltd. and as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, Strategy, and Planning. Previously, he served in executive and leadership roles at Noble Corporation, Burlington Resources, Unocal and as a consultant with McKinsey and Company. Mr. Ahlstrom began his career at ExxonMobil where he held a variety of engineering positions.
Mr. Ahlstrom holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware. Mr. Ahlstrom served on the board of directors for the National Investor Relations Institute from 2014-2019, including as chairman in 2018, and holds NIRI’s Investor Relations Charter (IRC™) credential.
Mr. Olivier manages all customer-facing functions including sales, sales engineering, service delivery, bids and proposals and the company’s Global Network Operations Centers. Mr. Olivier brings more than thirty years of experience in telecommunications for the oil and gas, maritime, cruise and leisure boating, government services and satellite industries. Prior to joining RigNet, his previous roles include President and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Satellite Communications; President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of Broadpoint; and President and Chief Operating Officer of CapRock Communications. He has served as the Chairman of the VISTA ViaSat Users Group as well as served on the Board of Trustees of IWL Communications.
Mr. Olivier graduated from Louisiana Technical College/T.H. Harris Branch in Opelousas with a degree in Industrial Electronics Technology.
Mr. Sullivan supports RigNet’s strategic initiatives as Chief Technology/Information Officer, aligning the company's product architecture with business priorities. Brendan brings over 20 years of technology leadership, driving transformational business process change and developing network services solutions. Brendan’s broad industry experience spans the media, telecom, entertainment and emerging technology industries. He previously held top technology positions at Vubiquity, DG, Level 3 Communications and Andersen Consulting. Brendan’s teams have been awarded multiple honors such as the Frost & Sullivan Innovation in Industry, Forbes Magazine Best of the Web, and a Technical Emmy. He received his Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Brown University.
James Arden “Jamie” Barnett, Jr. is a retired Rear Admiral in the United States Navy, serving for 32 years as a Surface Warfare Officer. He is one of the founders of the American College of National Security Leaders. His final assignment in the Navy was Deputy Commander of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) during the height of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. NECC consisted of approximately 40,000 specially trained Sailors such as the Seabees, Explosive Ordinance Disposal personnel, Coastal Warfare and Riverine units, with approximately 8,000 of these Sailors deployed to combat zones. His previous flag assignment was Director of Naval Education and Training in the Pentagon.
Upon retiring from the Navy, Rear Admiral Barnett was named as the Chief of the Federal Communications Commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. He was responsible for overseeing FCC activities pertaining to public safety, homeland security, emergency management and disaster preparedness. Under his leadership, the Bureau proposed major initiatives for Next Generation 9-1-1. He worked actively on a nationwide, interoperable public safety broadband network for first responders, including a rulemaking that designated the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology for that network. He established the Cybersecurity and Communications Reliability Division in his bureau and led the Commission’s team in developing policy to fight botnets and improve the security of Internet routing and the Domain Name System. He proposed and helped conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.
Before joining RigNet, Rear Admiral Barnett was a partner in a major law firm in Washington, D.C. where he was the Chair of the Telecommunications group. In 2015, he was named as a Top Lawyer in DC for cybersecurity by the Washingtonian magazine. He has written pieces for or been interviewed by The Washington Post, Newsweek, Roll Call, The Hill, Politico Pro, Communications Daily, The Washington Examiner, FedScoop, TR Daily, CIO Magazine, New York Times, Baltimore Sun, Network World, National Defense Week, Stars and Stripes and Law360 and has been interviewed on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Bloomberg News as well as local Washington, DC stations.\

Mr. Eastman manages RigNet’s legal function serving as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Eastman brings more than 25 years of legal experience focused on providing corporate, securities and general legal advice to public companies with operations across the globe. Most recently, Mr. Eastman served as General Counsel of the Cameron Group of Schlumberger Limited following Schlumberger’s acquisition of Cameron International in 2016. Prior to the acquisition, Mr. Eastman acted as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Cameron International. Before his role at Cameron, Mr. Eastman held the positions of Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Input/Output, Inc. and Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Quanta Services in Houston, Texas. Mr. Eastman began his legal career as a law clerk for the Western District of Texas before joining the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City as an associate in the firm’s corporate group and later joined the law firm of Brobeck, Phelger & Harrison in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Eastman received his J.D. from Harvard University, cum laude and B.A. from University of Texas, Liberal Arts Honors Program (Plan II), where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Mr. Eastman is a member of the Houston Grand Opera Development Committee and enjoys music and reading history.
Ed Traupman is the Senior Vice President responsible for the Product Line Management (PLM) and overall Profit and Loss (P&L) of all products and services delivered by RigNet. This includes overseeing the company’s pricing and margin strategies, reviewing and approving all bids and proposals and ensuring the sales organization has the tools and information necessary to deliver quality products and services in a timely manner to meet the needs of RigNet’s customers.
Prior to joining RigNet, Mr. Traupman spent almost 39 years in various segments of the telecommunications industry holding numerous technical and managerial positions at DSC Communications, Alcatel, Rapid5 Networks and Telmar Network Technology Inc. where he served as Vice President and General Manager of Telmar’s Extended Life, Professional Services, and Customer Technical Assistance Center (CTAC) business units.
Mr. Traupman holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Traupman is also the holder of nine telecom related patents.
Shelly Buchman is vice president of RigNet Connect, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. She is responsible for all aspects of the company’s Human Resources organization, including HR Operations, Employee Engagement, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits as well as serving as the Company’s Corporate Secretary.
Ms. Buchman joined Rignet in 2014 as senior counsel and progressed to associate general counsel and corporate secretary in 2016, where she was responsible for corporate governance matters with respect to the company’s Board of Directors, ensuring compliance with securities laws and NASDAQ listing requirements, foreign subsidiary management and labor and employment matters In 2018, Ms. Buchman assumed the role of vice president RigNet Connect where she was an integral part of establishing the company’s global employee engagement program. She was subsequently appointed as the global head of Human Resources after holding interim roles in HR and as General Counsel.
Ms. Buchman holds a juris doctorate from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Ohio State University.
Raúl Magallanes is responsible for telecommunications licensing and regulation. His duties also include overseeing anti-corruption and export control compliance; as well as managing new country entry and all corporate requirements for RigNet international subsidiaries. Magallanes previously served as principal of The Law Office of Raul Magallanes, PLLC, a law firm focusing on telecommunications law. Previous to that Magallanes served as Corporate Counsel for CapRock Communications, and in various engineering roles. Magallanes holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University; a B.S. in Telecommunications Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University; an MBA from the University of Houston-Clear Lake; a J.D. from the Thurgood Marshal School of Law; and an L.L.M in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary School of Law [University of London].
Mrs. McDermott manages RigNet's tax function, including global tax compliance, income tax accounting and strategic tax planning and structuring. She most recently was director of Tax at W-H Energy Services, an oilfield services company based in Houston with multi-national operations. Prior to that, she was a partner with a local private firm and tax manager with Arthur Andersen. A certified public accountant, McDermott has an M.S. in Tax from Texas A&M University and a B.B.A. in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington.
