Steven currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and President for RigNet. Before joining RigNet, Steven was the Chief Executive Officer and President of 21st Century Towers, a new entrant in the wireless infrastructure market. Steven also served as Chief Executive Officer to North America’s second largest tower construction and maintenance company, WesTower Communications which was acquired by MasTec (NYSE). Prior to WesTower, Steven was the Chief Executive Officer and President of Telmar Network Technology until its sale to Jabil Circuits (NYSE). Steven’s other roles included Senior Vice President/General Manager of Alcatel-Lucent’s Optical Network Division and Vice President of Sales at Alcatel.
Steven has been a QuEST Forum Board Member since early 2011 and served as an Executive Contributor for two years prior to that. He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Business Administration degree from The Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Mr. Schneider oversees RigNet's global finance operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, corporate finance, information technology, supply chain management and investor relations. He has more than 30 years of banking and industry experience, working with companies such as KBR, Enron Corp and National Power PLC. Mr. Schneider has held a diverse range of corporate finance and banking positions, with a focus on treasury, project finance, M&A and controllership activities at corporate and division levels. He holds a BBA in Finance and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business.
Mr. Sutton is responsible for all company legal matters worldwide, the global business compliance program, telecom regulatory licensing and corporate secretary duties for the board of directors. His legal duties also extend to mergers and acquisitions, litigation, contract administration and employment law and benefits. Sutton previously served as general counsel for Dailey International, an oilfield services company; Dash Multi-Corp; and Lawrence Industries. Having attended Stanford Law School's Directors' College, he holds a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from the University of Houston.
Jay T. Hilbert Senior Vice President, Sales Mr. Hilbert is responsible for RigNet’s global sales. Prior to joining RigNet, Mr. Hilbert served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Sales - Airvana Business Unit for CommScope Holding Company, Inc., a global provider of wireless solutions. Additionally, Mr. Hilbert served as Senior Vice President of Global Sales for Cambium Networks. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Telmar Network Technology. Also, Mr. Hilbert served as Senior Vice President of Global Sales of Spirent Communications and finally as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Somera Communications. Mr. Hilbert holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering Management from the University of North Dakota.
Global Business Leadership
Mr. George leads RigNet’s managed remote communications business in the Asia Pacific & Middle East region with full general management and business development responsibilities. George has 15 years of professional experience with large and small companies in the upstream oilfield services sector. Prior to joining RigNet in 2012, he worked in technical sales, business development and general management roles with companies such as Visean, Weatherford and Baker Hughes. He holds a B.S. degree and a post-graduate diploma in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Western Australia and most recently completed the Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Jimenez is responsible for RigNet’s global engineering function. He brings over 20 years of industry experience that includes director of Engineering at Eagle Broadband, chief technology officer at ERF Wireless and senior staff engineer at CenterPoint Energy for SmartGrid terrestrial microwave. As a veteran of the United States Navy, he served as a secure satellite and cryptographic communications engineer. He holds a B.S. in Information Systems Technology from the University of Houston and most recently completed the Accelerated Development Program from Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Byers leads the Company’s strategic growth initiatives in oil and gas. With over 12 years’ experience within the oil and gas and energy industry, Byers has built his career with senior management positions in a number of service and support companies. Prior to joining RigNet, he served as vice president, Operations for Omnisens SA based in Switzerland. Byers holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, both from Strathclyde Graduate Business School.
Global Support Leadership
Mr. Burns oversees the Company’s global human resources efforts that include building, maintaining and engaging the industry’s best employee base. Burns has had a successful career in human resources at firms as diverse in size as Schlumberger, Cooper Industries and MicroSeismic. Most recently, he served as vice president, human resources for MicroSeismic. In addition, he earlier served as human resources director at Cooper Lighting Division, and in a fifteen year career at Schlumberger, held a number of human resources positions of increasing responsibility. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Erasmus University’s Rotterdam School of Management.
Mrs. McDermott manages RigNet's tax function, including global tax compliance, income tax accounting and strategic tax planning and structuring. She most recently was director of Tax at W-H Energy Services, an oilfield services company based in Houston with multi-national operations. Prior to that, she was a partner with a local private firm and tax manager with Arthur Andersen. A certified public accountant, McDermott has an M.S. in Tax from Texas A&M University and a B.B.A. in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Raúl Magallanes is responsible for telecommunications licensing and regulation. His duties also include overseeing anti-corruption and export control compliance; as well as managing new country entry and all corporate requirements for RigNet international subsidiaries. Magallanes previously served as principal of The Law Office of Raul Magallanes, PLLC, a law firm focusing on telecommunications law. Previous to that Magallanes served as Corporate Counsel for CapRock Communications, and in various engineering roles. Magallanes holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University; a B.S. in Telecommunications Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University; an MBA from the University of Houston-Clear Lake; a J.D. from the Thurgood Marshal School of Law; and an L.L.M in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary School of Law [University of London].
